T2 Trainspotting cast get together on the ‘orange’ carpet in Edinburgh

Stars reunite for live TV advert ahead of the much anticipated world premiere

LONDON, UK – 22 January 2017: The cast of Trainspotting’s long-awaited sequel descended on Edinburgh, the city in which the much-anticipted film is shot and set in, for the world premiere of T2 Trainspotting. Ewan McGregor was joined by co-stars Ewen Bremner, Johnny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle on the orange carpet alongside the film’s director Danny Boyle and other cast members including Kelly Macdonald, Shirley Henderson and Anjela Nedyalkova.

T2 Trainspotting takes place 21 years after the groundbreaking original which followed the lives of group of heroin addicts and explored urban poverty in the Scottish capital.  Now middle-aged and battling different demons, Renton (McGregor), Sick Boy (Lee Miller), Spud (Bremner) and their violent friend Begbie (Carlyle) are once again reunited  in the city where is all began.

The new film, which is loosely based on Irvine Welsh’s own 2002 sequel to Trainspotting, Porno, reunited Boyle with screenwriter John Hodge.

T2 Trainspotting (Sony Pictures) is in cinemas across the UK from 27 January 2017.
